My key items were: 4 wheels, soft sided, no clam-shell opening since i often don't fully unpack on short trips and don't want a large footprint in the room for my bag, acceptable for most/all airlines, ability to expand, and lots of pockets for easy access. "A bit disappointed how easily scratches and dings appeared on the exterior of the surface where the retractable handle collapses into the exposed section outside the suitcase. I get it, this part is exposed, but the durability is disappointing for what this suitcase costs. And I bought two of them, one for me and one for my wife. And we bought the larger version which will be put to the test on a two-week vacation."

While a laptop may physically fit inside the front exterior pocket, we would not recommend storing it there. The front pocket is not designed with the additional padding and protection needed to safely secure a laptop during travel.
